Tequila and Mezcal Fest, Seminars and New Products

Tequila and Mezcal Fest is set to kick off in less than a week. You can expect some great Tequila and Mezcal Fest seminars hosted by some of the biggest names in the industry, and experience some great new products that are only just reaching UK shores.

Tequila Patron

There are some major influencers coming to speak across the two days at Tequila and Mezcal Fest this year. Everyone knows Tequila Patron. This year Francisco Alcaraz, the original and current master distiller of Patron, and Patron’s production director Antonio Rodriguez, will both be hosting a seminar to share the culture and tradition behind making Tequila Patron. This will be the first time they have travelled to the UK. They will be discussing issues around sustainability and preserving the agave culture, as they lead you through the full range of Patron’s core tequilas, including their Gran Patron Platinum.

Tequila Arette

You will have a chance to meet the co-owner and master distiller of Tequila Arette, Jaime Orendain. He will go through the long heritage and history of his brand. Arette is still produced in the town of Tequila where his family started producing tequila in the early 1900s, at El Llano distillery.

Other seminars include how to make the perfect guacamole with Peyotito London’s head Chef Adriana Cavita, a sip through Mezcal Amores, and a journey to Distillery La Rojena to experience tequila from Jose Cuervo. You can sit and enjoy some new UK arrivals like Derrumbes Durango and Zacatecas, and La Venenosa Raicilla Puntas, with Gabriela Moncada. Chill out with the European Brand Ambassador of Don Julio Tequila, Deano Moncrieffe, and of course you do not want to miss the Agave Queens, four great ladies representing two tequila and two mezcal brands. We are advising people to sign up to attend the seminars ahead of time by emailing [email protected]. There is no additional cost to sign up to attend.

For those of you who can’t make it to the festival, keep a watch on our facebook page. We will be live streaming some of the seminars throughout the festival. So if you can’t be there but still want to join in on the seminars, join us live.

It wouldn’t be Tequila and Mezcal Fest if you didn’t have some new brands/varieties to discover. And this year will not disappoint. We already mentioned some new arrivals from Derrumbes Mezcal and La Venenosa Raicilla. Both have only been in the UK less than a month. We’ll also be welcoming UWA Tequila to their first drinks festival. Based in Scotland, UWA ages their tequilas in Scotch barrels. There will be loads of new mezcals to try like Corte Vetusto and Creyente. But if you want to try some even lesser known spirits, you can indulge in Balam Raicilla, Aguamiel Bacanora, Flor del Desierto Sotol, Pascola Bacanora and more.

To find out who will be there, see our full exhibitors list, from tequilas, mezcals, raicillas, bacanoras, and sotols.
