FLYING BETWEEN FIELDS (ENTRECAMPOS) BATS FEED FROM THE SWEET NECTAR OF AGAVE’S FLOWERS; MAKING POLLINATION OF AGAVES POSSIBLE.

THEY DEPEND ON EACH OTHER FOR THEIR EXISTENCE.

At least for 6 years (and up to 30), under the sun in desert and semi-desert areas of Oaxaca, Agave is gathers sugars and energy, which will require in a single act of reproduction, which occurs by means of the inflorescence on a trunk that is known as QUIOTE; where flowers contain the nectar from which the bat feeds. After raising the quiote, the agave dies.

In Mexico there are about 138 species of bats out of a total of 1,250 species in the world, and there are about 250 species of agave.

In addition to being the main responsible for the reproduction of the agave bats bring many benefits to the ecology and our lives, for example: pest and insect control, seed dispersal, and pollination.

ENTRECAMPOS is a tribute to this relationship; and we try to raise awareness of the importance of the bat in our lives and to demystify the image of this small creature.
