Patron Tequila. It is perhaps the most well-known tequila brand, full stop. Patron has been sung about in rap lyrics, featured in films, and seen as one of the brands that has paved the way for what is now called a “premium” tequila. So why not share a Patron Tequila on 24th July, International Tequila Day?
We spoke to Patron’s UK brand co-ambassador Karine Tillard to find out what she’ll be enjoying for International Tequila Day during the warm summer months. Karine loves sipping a paloma cocktail. Said to have been created in the town of Tequila by Don Javier, the paloma is a simple but elegant cocktail featuring tequila, grapefruit soda, and fresh lime. You can see Karine mixing up a Patron paloma cocktail in the video, using Patron resposado. Here is the recipe:
50ml Patron Reposado
25ml Grapefruit juice
Top it up with carbonated soda
Dash of lime juice
Karine has been touring the country introducing people to Patron Tequila and their line of 100% agave tequilas for the past two years. Her main focus is to explain how to properly enjoy tequila and to spread the agave love. Karine never recommends shots, but sipping it neat to truly appreciate the flavours.
Patron Tequila has been a great supporter of the Tequila and Mezcal Fest and will definitely be a feature this year. We asked Karine why Patron looks forward to take part in the festival year after year.
“Tequila Fest is the best time of the year, it’s like a family reunion”, Karine says. “We get to hang with all the agave spirits family. It’s a massive party for us”.
Last year, Patron Tequila introduced festival goers to a whole new experience, their virtual hacienda tour. Strap on a set of smartphone ‘goggles’ and let the Patron Bee character fly you through the blue agave fields and the hacienda where Patron is made. It was a great experience that had people lining up, and will be back for this year’s Tequila and Mezcal Fest.
This year will also feature some special Patron guests. We are expecting Francisco Alcaraz, Patron’s master distiller since 1989, as well as Antonio Rogriguez, senior distiller, both to be in attendance at this year’s Tequila and Mezcal Fest. Patron also recently announced their brand new core range extra anejo and if we’re lucky, you might see this at the festival too. Lots to look forward to from Patron Tequila this year.
Leading up to Tequila and Mezcal Fest, you can catch Patron Tequila on their Patron the Summer Tour. They are touring the UK in a modified Airstream trailer serving up great cocktails and of course, Patron Tequila. They’ll even be celebrating International Tequila Day on 24th July. Be sure to catch Karine and Benji Ryde, Patron’s UK co-ambassadors, on the summer tour. Follow Patron on facebook and twitter to see details. Otherwise, you’ll definitely be able to enjoy some Patron Tequila at Tequila and Mezcal Fest.

Hi. You listed “grape fresh juice” as one of the ingredients. This should be”grapefruit juice” surely.
It will probably confuse purple who are trying to prepare a Paloma for the first time!
