Tequila and Mezcal Fest London has a great relationship with Café Pacifico. Café Pacifico is the first Mexican restaurant with an agave forward experience to be established in London back in 1982.
“An event unlike any other in the U.K.” That is what Carlos Fernando Londono, the General Manager at Café Pacifico had to say about Tequila and Mezcal Fest. Watch the video above to hear what Carlos had to say about the festival and Cafe Pacifico’s involvement. Also, see first hand how Cafe Pacifico makes their award winning Rumble Margarita.
Café Pacifico won the first annual Margarita Rumble, a competition to find the best margarita in London. Thirty restaurants submitted recipes, with the top 15 making it to the final. All finalist margaritas were mixed before a crowd of thirsty patrons. Café Pacifico won with their innovative margarita that used Jose Cuervo Traditional silver as a base.
Here is their recipe in case you missed it in the video:
40ml Jose Cuervo Traditional Silver
20ml homemade agave with passion fruit
Fruit and Vanilla
25ml lime juice
Fresh Passion Fruit
Shake all ingredients, serve in a rock glass with chimi rim. Serve on the rocks with extra tequila serving and 3 citrus bitters.
Maybe we’ll see their award winning margarita at this year’s Tequila and Mezcal Fest. But if not, we asked Carlos what he looks forward to each year at the festival. He enjoys the wide variety of spirits, but also the chance to change perceptions about agave spirits. One thing he loves about the festival is for patrons to get a chance to try high-end spirits that they may not have had the chance to sample before.
Café Pacifico has been a staple of Tequila and Mezcal Fest since 2015, serving great Mexican fare. Street tacos, featuring different recipes wrapped in a soft tortilla, are the popular choice as everything is made fresh on the grill. The aroma steams out across the festival while you wait.
Visiting Café Pacifico in London’s Covent Garden is something you have to experience. It is the only UK establishment to be awarded the Distinctivo T award. This award is a recognition of knowledge and service with regards to tequila, and is issued by the Tequila Regulatory Council in Mexico. This is a great achievement, and you experience the high quality knowledge and service when you sit at the bar. Their massive selection of tequila, mezcal, and other great Mexican spirits is unparalleled.
If you get a chance to share a tequila with Carlos at Café Pacifico, he will definitely encourage you to sip and savour. This is a sign of respect to the jimadors, distillers, and producers of tequila. It allows you to experience all the flavours of the agave.
You will definitely find Café Pacifico at this year’s Tequila and Mezcal Fest. But to find them in London, look them up on the web at www.cafe-pacifico.com. We invite you to join us in celebrating all things Mexico and agave at this year’s festival with Cafe Pacifico. There are still tickets available here. We hope to see you there. Salud!
